FISHERMEN FOR THE HUNGRY
Lake Blackshear

October 22, 2011

Lake Blackshear MEGA BUCKS
The first ever Fishermen for the Hungry MEGA BUCKS Bass Tournament sponsored by Crisp County Chamber of Commerce and Board Tourism was a tremendous success!

We had 80 participants from all over Ga., Fl., and Al., paid ten places for a total cash pay-out of $8,340.00, and rewarded boat loads of doors prizes valued at approximately $2,000.00.

“We could never had done this without our very loyal sponsors and the Crisp County Chamber of Commerce and Board of Tourism partnering with us”.  Through their support we were able to accomplish exactly what we set out to do and that was to bring participates to Lake Blackshear to see our beautiful lake, facilities at Veteran’s State Park, the Lake Blackshear Resort, Marina, and reward them for participating while also helping the Food Banks.

The very success of this event will certainly work well towards many more MEGA BUCKS Bass Tournaments to come!

Irie Harkleroad of Waycross, Ga. took First Place and a $2500.00 check for his five fish limit of 14.70 lbs. He caught his fish on buzz baits. Irie stated he was thankful for winning this event but as always, he was very proud to be a faithful supporter of the Fishermen For the Hungry through thick and thin.

T. J. Faircloth of Leesburg, Ga. and Harley Seymour of Albany, Ga. took Second Place and a check for $1500.00 by fishing plastic worms and crank baits. Their five fish limit tipped the scales at 13.38 lbs. Both guys said they just went fishing and enjoyed themselves while supporting a very good cause.

Jeff Youngblood of Arabi, Ga. and Edwin Oliver of Cordele, Ga. used crank baits and brought four fish to the scales for a total weight of 12.02 lbs earning a Third Place check for $1000.00

Ninth Place and a check for $270.00 went to Steve Stewart and Ray Williams with 9.92 lbs.

Approximately $2000.00 worth of outstanding door prizes were presented to our participates by the Crisp County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Board Chairman John Donohue. John also represented Hampton Inn and presented another five free night stays to our participates to be used in upcoming Fishermen For The Hungry events.

The Fishermen For The Hungry and MARS SNACK FOODS honored two of our most outstanding contributors with plaques today showing our appreciation and letting them know we cannot operate without them.  These went to Albany Scale Company and received by Jimmy Parker and to Gammage Print Shop received by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gammage.  Both are charter sponsors of the F.F.T.H.

The F.F.T.H. will continue to offer the absolute most professional and rewarding regular tournaments possible along with many more MEGA BUCKS BASS TOURNAMENTS in the future so check our web-site often for updated schedules.
